Prabowo Revokes 4 Mining Business Permits In Raja Ampat, Except For Gag Nickel

JAKARTA - The government has officially revoked four mining business permits (IUP) in the Raja Ampat Regency area. This revocation is the aftermath of protests filed by the public in recent times.

Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi said the revocation of this permit was carried out after several related ministers such as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the Minister of Forestry and the Minister of Environment conducted in-depth and objective studies in the field.

"Yesterday, the President chaired a limited meeting, one of which was about the mining business permit in Raja Ampat and the position of the President, the government will revoke mining business permits for 4 companies in Raja Ampat Regency," he said, Tuesday, June 10.

Prasetyo also expressed his appreciation to environmental and social media activists who actively provide criticism and input regarding environmental issues in Raja Ampat that have the potential to threaten tourism in the Bird's Head.

"The government would like to thank the entire community, especially those active on social media, who conveyed input to the government," he continued.

Here are 4 fashions whose licenses have been revoked: 1. PT Anugerah Surya Pratama (ASP)

This company has an IUP Production Operation based on the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 912010511135050013 which was issued on January 7, 2024 and is valid until January 7, 2034. The area has an area of 1,173 Ha on Manuran Island. For environmental aspects, PT ASP had AMDAL documents in 2006 and UKL-UPL in the same year from Raja Ampat Regent.

2. PT Mulia Raymond Perkasa (MRP)

This company is the holder of the IUP from the Decree of the Regent of Raja Ampat No. 153.A of 2013 which is valid for 20 years until February 26, 2033 and covers the area of 2,193 Ha on Batang Pele Island. Activities are still at the exploration stage (landing) and do not yet have environmental documents or environmental approval.

3. PT Kawei Sejahtera Mining (KSM)

PT KSM has an IUP based on the Decree of the Regent No. 290 of 2013, which is valid until 2033 with an area of 5,922 Ha. For regional use, the company holds an IPPKH based on the Decree of the Minister of Environment and Forestry in 2022. Production activities have been carried out since 2023, but currently no production activities are ongoing.

4. PT Nurham

IUP holder based on the Decree of the Regent of Raja Ampat No. 8/1/IUP/PMDN/2025 has a permit until 2033 with an area of 3,000 hectares on Waegeo Island. The company has had environmental approval from the Raja Ampat Regency Government since 2013. Until now the company has not produced.
