Whether This Is Good Or Bad News, Palu City Government Allows Its Citizens To Homecoming With Restrictions

JAKARTA - The Palu City Government in Central Sulawesi Province has allowed residents to homecoming for Eid by imposing restrictions.

"Homecoming is only allowed to agglomeration areas of Palu City which include Sigi, Donggala, and Parigi Moutong Regencies", said Mayor of Palu Hadianto Rasyid in the Bantaya meeting room, Palu Mayor's Office, quoted from Antara, Monday, May 3.

The city government, he said, would close the entrance for residents returning home from outside the three areas.

In order to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission during homecoming, he continued, the government has prepared a team tasked with examining residents who enter and leave the Palu City area.

"We set up checkpoints at each land route entrance to the city of Palu. If by sea and air, we coordinate with the port and airport authorities so that no one passes into or out of Palu except for what is permitted", he said.

Hadianto asked residents of the capital city of Central Sulawesi Province to support the government's efforts to control the transmission of COVID-19 by not forcing themselves to go home this year.

"If we are not all serious about dealing with the spread and transmission of COVID-19 in Palu City, this problem will not be resolved at any time", he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Class II Port Authority and Port Authority Office of Palu Mursidi stated that the passenger terminals at the Pantoloan Ferry Terminal and Taipa Port will be closed May from 6 to 17, 2021.

"The passenger terminal is closed so that no passengers are transported in and out of Palu through the port", he said.
