KPK Urged To Examine Ridwan Kamil In Bank BJB Advertising Corruption Case

JAKARTA - The KPK was urged to immediately examine former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil regarding the alleged corruption case in the procurement of BJB Bank advertisements in 2021-2023 which cost the state up to Rp12 billion. The pressure was conveyed by former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Yudi Purnomo.

"In order not to appear selective, the KPK should immediately check Ridwan Kamil," said Yudi in his statement, Monday, June 9.

Yudi emphasized the importance of the examination considering that the KPK had searched Ridwan Kamil's private house and confiscated a number of evidences. Examination, according to him, can start from documents and confiscated items.

"Even though it has not yet entered the main case, the KPK can start from clarifying the documents and items that have been confiscated from RK's house," he added.

Previously, the Daily Executor (Plh) of the Director of Investigation of the KPK, Budi Sukmo Wibowo, stated that Ridwan Kamil would indeed be summoned. However, limited investigators' resources are the main reason for not having been investigated.

"God willing, we will summon and verify as soon as possible. Many investigators are studying, so the work is divided," Budi said last week.

So far, the KPK has confiscated several assets from Ridwan Kamil's house, including a Mercedes-Benz car and a Royal Enfield motorbike, which are now being secured at the KPK Confiscated Property Storage House (Rupbasan) in Jakarta.

In this corruption case, the KPK has named five suspects, namely former Director of BJB Yuddy Renaldi, Head of BJB Corsec Division Widi Hartono, and three from the controlling agency Ikin Asikin Dulmanan, Suhendri, and Sophan Jaya Kusuma.

The KPK sniffed out total state losses in this case, which could reach Rp 222 billion. The examination of Ridwan Kamil is considered an important step so that the KPK remains transparent and upholds the principle of justice in law enforcement in this big case.
