3 Denpasar Police Members Dipatsus In The Aftermath Of Obscenity Prisoners Being Beaten To Death

Three police officers serving at the Denpasar Police Station were detained in a special placement (dipatsus) following the case of a prisoner being tortured to death in a detention cell.

The Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Aryasandi, said the three police officers were considered unprofessional and negligent in their duties.

When the incident occurred, said Sandi, the three of them did not supervise the activities of the detainees in the Denpasar Police cell.

"We have monitored three members for 30 days because of the code of ethics. While on duty on guard duty, they did not monitor the activities of detainees. That is a form of members' unprofessionalism," Sandi said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 9.

The three members who were served were Bripka ADP (members of the Tahti Unit), Bripda IPDAP (member of Samapta) and Bripda IDPS (member of Samapta).

Previously, a man who was a prisoner with the initials AI (35), was found dead in the Denpasar Police Detention Center (Rutan), Bali, on Wednesday (4/6) night at around 21:30 WITA.

The victim of AI is known to be a perpetrator of sexual abuse.

According to Sandi's statement, the victim died because he was allegedly beaten by other detainees at the Denpasar Police Detention Center.

From a number of information gathered, the victim AI was the perpetrator of sexual abuse and after being arrested was handed over to the detention center by investigators from the Denpasar Police PPA Unit. However, not until a day in the cell, AI has been allegedly beaten to death.

Until now, the police have named six detainees as suspects in the beating. The perpetrators are on average narcotics convicts.

They were charged with Article 170 concerning Beating or Persecution together.

Sandi said that until now investigators are still investigating the motive for the beating that caused the death.
