Cianjur Police Legal Process For Police Who Persecuted Victims Of Wrong Arrest
CIANJUR - Cianjur Resort Police, West Java guarantees legal proceedings against a number of members who made mistakes in cases of wrongful arrests.
Cianjur Police Chief AKBP Rohman Yonky Dilatha confirmed that his party had immediately carried out the examination process of members suspected of committing acts outside the procedure against a resident who was not proven to have made a mistake.
"I apologize and will take action against personnel who take action outside the procedure as members of the National Police in accordance with applicable regulations," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 9.
He guaranteed that nothing was covered up and would take firm action against members who took actions that were not in accordance with the procedure. The member has already undergone an examination at the Cianjur Police Propam unit.
"We make sure the inspection continues and nothing is covered up, strict sanctions according to the rules will be applied," he said.
However, Suherli (45), a resident of Jamali Village, Mande District, became a victim of wrongful arrests and acts of violence by the police at the Cianjur Police, so that the victim suffered bruises all over his body, especially the face.
The wrong arrest incident experienced by the victim, who works as a coffee beans seller on a trip to the Lampegan area, Campaka District, for shopping for coffee beans from farmers, was suddenly intercepted by a number of people on June 2, 2025 nights.
He and his friend left on a motorbike, when they entered Jalan Raya Bandung-Cianjur, suddenly stopped a number of men, one of whom had stabbed his neck, so the victim rebelled because he thought he was a gang of robbers.
"When I rebelled, my elbow spontaneously hit the person's face who finally claimed to be a member of the police, I immediately got hit and abused before being put into the car," he said.
Arriving at the Cianjur Police Station, various acts of violence were carried out again by about six police officers against him, even he had repeatedly asked for forgiveness and when he asked why he was arrested.
"I was again hit and kicked in one of the rooms at the Cianjur Police Station, even when I asked why I was arrested, no one answered and threw another blow," he said.
Until finally on the third day he was sent home, a member said that the friend who took him that night was on the wanted list as a collector of stolen goods.
"I ask that police officers who commit abuse be given strict sanctions so that there will be no more similar cases that happen to innocent people like me," he said.
