Ahead Of 500 Years Of Jakarta City, DKI Provincial Government Will Hold Betawi Cultural Carnival Every Month

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor (Deputy Governor) of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno revealed that the DKI Provincial Government will hold a Betawi cultural carnival every month. The Carnival will be held in the HI Roundabout area.

"Every month towards 500 years, we will build a large cultural carnival. It's only around the HI Roundabout," Rano told reporters, Sunday, June 9.

The first Carnival will be held a week after the celebration of the 498th Anniversary of the City of Jakarta which falls on June 22, 2025.

On the anniversary of Jakarta, the DKI Provincial Government has a series of agendas at the DKI Jakarta City Hall as well as plenary meetings at the DKI DPRD Building.

"It can't be on the 22nd, because we definitely have a plenary schedule for DKI's birthday. Then in the afternoon there must be activities at the city hall. So, for celebrations here we will postpone it to 29th," said Rano.

The first trial of art and cultural performances will be held on June 29, 2025, by presenting a variety of Betawi arts by around 5,000 participants.

The attractions displayed include pencak silat, dance, music, and culinary dishes.

In addition, the DKI Provincial Government will also hold art and cultural performances in every motor vehicle free day (HBKB) or car free day.

The stage will be divided into three points, namely in the Dukuh Atas area (near the Sudirman Statue), Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Senayan, and the fountain area of the Hotel Indonesia roundabout.

"We will start the point of entertainment activities here (Upper Hamlet). Next month we will add it to GBK and around the HI Roundabout," he said.
