Apple Secretly Starts Developing 3.0 VisionOS And 2.4 VisionOS

JAKARTA Apple is reportedly developing its next major update to Vision Pro's headset operating system, namelyvisionOS 3.0 andvisionOS 2.4, after references to the version were found accidentally in the documentation of an example project on the website of the Cupertino-based company.

This information comes shortly after the release of the beta developer visionOS 2.3 earlier last week. Although Apple has not officially announced the existence of versions 3.0 and 2.4, leaks in technical documentation show that both versions have begun to be done internally.

Apple Vision Pro is Apple's first mixed reality device to run VisionOS. Apple CEO Tim Cook called it a product for early circles when it was first introduced. After visionOS 1, the public version of WatchOS 2 is available since September 16, 2024.

The discovery was first reported by AppleInsider, who discovered that an example project on Apple's development site explicitly called the platform's target for visionOS 2.4 andvisionOS 3.0, past the expected version of 2.2. Although there are no details regarding the new feature, this update will most likely include bug fixes and improved user quality (quality-of-life improvements).

Interestingly, until now Apple Vision Pro does not support Apple Intelligence features, although the device is equipped with Apple M2 chips which are also used on the iPad and Mac. Features such as Writing Tools, Genmoji, and Image Playground are already available on iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia. It is not yet known whether visionOS 3.0 will introduce support for Apple Intelligence or not.

Although this leak seems accidental, it is an initial confirmation that Apple is indeed preparing the future of Vision Pro with a sustainable development for its operating system. We are just waiting for an official announcement at Apple's upcoming big event, a possible WWDC or year-end product launch
