Disappointed To Pay Over Baggage, Wings Air Passengers Jokingly Carry Bombs In Their Suitcases
JAKARTA - A passenger with Wings Air has been arrested at Frans Xavier Seda Airport, Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) for jokingly carrying a bomb in a suitcase.
"He was detained by aviacion security officer because he said that the suitcase he was carrying contained a bomb," said Head of Public Relations of the NTT Regional Police, Kombes Rishian Krisna Budhiaswanto, confirmed by VOI, Monday, May 3.
The Wings Air passenger who was destined for Jakarta was secured because it made other passengers panic about the bomb jokes. Airport officials immediately contacted the police.
"(The police) immediately took action to hold an examination of the contents of the suitcase concerned and and bring the person concerned and his 11 year old child to the KPPP air post for interrogation. The person concerned admitted his guilt for the statement made so he asked for it to be resolved internally, "he continued.
The perpetrator in the investigation admitted that he jokingly said he was carrying a bomb because he was disappointed with the over payment for baggage. This passenger also canceled his flight because of this incident.
"According to the information concerned, the statement that the bag carried contained the bomb was only a joke or an element of disappointment over the over payment for baggage. That the person concerned promised not to repeat his actions, "he continued.
At 16.00 WITA, Sunday, May 2, the acting passenger was allowed to go home. Today the perpetrator was asked to come to the KPPP Air post to make a statement that he did not repeat his actions.
