This annual competition is open to the general public, both professional and student categories, with registration period starting from June 5 to July 11, 2025.
The launch of the program was symbolically carried out by the Deputy Governor of BI Filianingsih Hendarta and the Chief Executive of the Financial Sector Technology Innovation Supervision, Digital Financial Assets, and OJK Crypto Assets Hasan Fawzi, at the BI Office Complex, Jakarta.
BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said that the 2025 Hackathon is part of a strategy to accelerate digital transformation, in line with the 2025-2030 Indonesian Payment System Blueprint (BSPI).
Perry explained five important achievements since the launch of BSPI, including the adoption of QRIS which has been used by more than 56 million users and 38 million merchants, most MSME players. QRIS has also been connected to other countries' payment systems such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
"QRIS will be connected with Japan starting August 17, 2025, and is being prepared for trials in China and Saudi Arabia," Perry said in a written statement, Friday, June 6.
Other achievements include BI-Fast growth, implementation of the National Open API Payment (SNAP) Standard, electronification of Indonesian social programs and Credit Cards, and regulatory reform to strengthen the national payment industry.
However, Perry emphasized that accelerating digitalization also brings new challenges.
"Therefore, BSPI 2030 focuses on the 4I + RD initiative, including modernization of payment infrastructure, safe innovation, and development of the Digital Rupiah," he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners Mahendra Siregar emphasized the importance of digital financial sector integration to increase national financial inclusion and literacy.
"Hackathon is a bridge to produce creative solutions that are able to support economic growth, increase financial market efficiency, and strengthen competitiveness," said Mahendra.
Hackathon 2025 carries three main sub-themes, namely:
1. AI as a Service (AIAAS) for digital service exports,
2. Financial innovation and public services,
3. Risk management and consumer protection.
This competition also encourages cross-sectoral collaboration through matchmaking sessions that bring together innovators, regulators, communities, and service users so that the solutions developed really answer real needs.
