Cooperating With The Young Generation, Encourages Sustainability And Recovery Of Coastal Ecosystems
In particular, in commemoration of World Environment Day 2025, BRI collaborates with the younger generation in real environmental conservation actions in coastal areas of Mamuju Regency (West Sulawesi) and Tuban Regency (East Java). In Mamuju, BRI Plants Grow & Green' involves students/i SMA Negeri 1 Mamuju and students who love nature Mapala Canakrawala Manankara from Muhammadiyah Mamuju University. They learn directly about coral reef transplantation and environmentally friendly fish farming using floating net cages. This activity introduces conservation practices that have a double impact on the sustainability of marine ecosystems and economic improvement of coastal communities.
Meanwhile, in Tuban Regency, BRI collaborates with students/i SMKN 1 Tuban to plant sea cypress as an effort to prevent abrasion and maintain the balance of the coastal ecosystem. Students also receive direct education regarding the challenges of climate change, environmental damage, and the importance of the role of the younger generation in sustainable solutions.
"This activity is not just planting trees, but planting awareness for our children about the importance of protecting the earth. We really appreciate this collaboration because it provides direct experience for students to love and care for the environment from an early age," said Deputy Principal of SMK Negeri 1 Tuban Firdaus Dias.
Community Education
Hendy added that climate change that has led to global temperature increases in recent decades has demanded real action from companies in preserving nature. BRI Planting Grow & Green is a concrete example of implementing ESG principles that not only improve the company's performance, but also make a positive contribution to society and the environment.
The implementation of Grow & Green activities in Mamuju and Tuban is a real example of BRI by involving the younger generation in realizing the responsibility to protect the environment. Education and active involvement of the younger generation are the keys to sustainable change. World Environment Day is a reminder that protecting the earth means preserving life itself," concluded Hendy.
