Toyota Prepares Hybrid Vios, Launches In Thailand This Year

JAKARTA - Toyota is rumored to be launching a Yaris Ativ hybrid in Thailand or known as Vios. The news strengthens that the car will launch in August 2025.

Quoting from the Autolifethailand page, Wednesday, June 4, it is rumored that after the fourth generation who arrived in 2022, Toyota will launch a Vios Hybrid packaged with a new engine.

Not much information has been shared regarding the Toyota Vios Hybrid, but it is expected to use the same power train as the Yaris CROSS previously launched, but may have some minor adjustments.

Referring to the Yaris Cross Hybrid, the embedded engine is 2NR-VEX 1,500 cc 4 cylinder Atkinson Cycle combined with an electric motor.

This machine is capable of producing 90 PS power and 121 Nm peak torque. Electric motors also provide additional torques of 121 Nm, so that the total resulting torque can reach 141 Nm.

As is known, the redesigned Vios is based on the Daihatsu platform DNGA, an architecture designed to accommodate hybrid systems from the start.

One of the main examples is Toyota Raize with an electrification version available in Japan and not yet in Indonesia. The country's market is still armed with gasoline engines.

In addition, the DNGA chassis is also the basis for the Toyota Yaris Cross. At the same time, it was previously reported that Avanza and Veloz might even get a hybrid option. So, it's possible that Vios will get a hybrid version.
