KKB Shoot Dead Two Civilians In Jayawijaya

JAKARTA - The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) continues to spread terror. Two civilians were killed as a result of being shot by the sparatist group led by Egianus Kogoya.

The two civilians were named Rahmat Hidayat (45) and Saepudin (39). They were shot while in Kwantapo Village, Asotipo District, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua, Wednesday, June 4.

"This is a heinous act that cannot be tolerated. The Cartenz Peace Ops Task Force has immediately moved," said Head of Cartenz Peace Operations, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, in his statement, Wednesday, June 4.

The beating occurred when the two victims were working on the construction of the GKI Church, Imanuel Kampung Kwantapo, at around 08.30 WIT. At that time, two people suspected of being the perpetrators passed by and immediately opened fire on the victims.

One of the victims suffered a gunshot wound to the head that penetrated the left eye, while the other victim was shot in the left armpit until it hit the arm. Based on witness testimony, the two victims tried to escape before being chased and executed by the perpetrator.

From the results of monitoring, the perpetrators were members of the KKB network led by Egianus Kogoya and affiliated with names such as Asbak Koronue and Hakim from Yahukimo's troops.

"We are sweeping and pursuing the perpetrators, strengthening patrols in vulnerable areas, and deepening intelligence data. We are also coordinating with the TNI and local community leaders so that the situation remains conducive," said Faizal.

Currently, conditions in Kuantapo Village are declared vulnerable but still under control. The joint TNI-Polri apparatus is on full alert and continues to carry out intensive patrols and pursuit of the perpetrators.
