Ministry Of Education Reminds Dedi Mulyadi: School Entry Hours Must Be In Accordance With Central Provisions!
JAKARTA - Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti emphasized the importance of all parties, including West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, to follow the rules set by the ministry regarding the implementation of teaching and learning activities in elementary and secondary schools.
This statement was conveyed by the Minister of Education and Culture Abdul Mu'ti in response to a new instruction from Dedi Mulyadi which regulates the change in school entry hours in West Java to 06.00 WIB, as well as restrictions on learning days from Monday to Friday.
"This is not only a matter of school hours, but there are provisions from the ministry regarding the duration of learning and school days that have been regulated nationally," Mu'ti explained after the Awarding of the Mendikdasmen Award in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 3, afternoon, quoted by ANTARA.
Abdul Mu'ti hopes that the policies issued by local governments, including Dedi Mulyadi's instructions in West Java, can be in line with ministry regulations. He reminded the provincial, district and city governments to understand and formulate policies that do not conflict with central regulations.
"All parties are expected to understand and always refer to policies that have become the standard of the ministry," said the Minister of Education and Culture.
Previously, Dedi Mulyadi issued Circular Letter Number 51 / PA.03 / Disdik which instructed the implementation of school entry hours at 06.00 WIB and study days Monday to Friday for students at all levels of primary and secondary education in West Java. In addition, Dedi also regulates the implementation of curfews for students from 21.00 WIB to 04.00 WIB to limit student activities outside the home.

Through this policy, Dedi Mulyadi encouraged regents and mayors to apply the regulation to the sub-district and village levels throughout West Java, starting June 2025.
However, the Minister of Education and Culture Abdul Mu'ti reminded that this kind of policy must be reviewed so as not to conflict with national provisions in order to maintain the quality and health of students in the learning process.
With the warning from the Minister of Education and Culture, it is hoped that Governor Dedi Mulyadi can adjust the policy of school hours and curfews so that they remain in accordance with the rules that apply at the central level, in order to ensure that the teaching and learning process runs effectively and according to national education standards.
