Former Director General Of PAUD Clarified In The Case Of Alleged Corruption Chromebook Of The Ministry Of Education And Culture

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) is examining five witnesses in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Chromebooks at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) for the 2019 '2022 period. One of them is the former Acting Director General of Paud, Basic and Secondary Education, Hamid Muhammad.

"(Investigating) HM as Plt. Director General of Paud, Basic and Secondary Education in 2020," said Head of the AGO, Harli Siregar in his statement, Wednesday, June 4.

The material and examination results took place on Tuesday, June 4. It was only explained about the witnesses who were also questioned.

They are the Secretary of the Directorate General of Paud, Basic and Secondary Education for the 2019 period, Sutanto; Deputy Chair of the Technical Team for the Analysis of the Needs of Information and Communication Technology Learning Equipment (ICT) at the Directorate of Elementary Schools and Junior High Schools for the 2020 Fiscal Year, KHM.

Then, WH as the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) at the Primary School Directorate, Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education and Secondary Education in 2020-2021.

Then, AB as a member of the Technical Team for the Analysis of the Needs of ICT Learning Equipment at the Directorate of Elementary Schools and Junior High Schools for the 2020 Fiscal Year.

"The witness examination was carried out to strengthen the evidence and complete the filing in the case," said Harli.

Meanwhile, this alleged corruption was detected when it was suspected that there was an evil conspiracy by various parties by directing a technical team to conduct a technical study related to the procurement of equipment assistance related to technology education in 2020.

"In order to be directed at the use of laptops based on Chrome operating system (operative system)," said Harli.

In fact, he said, the use of Chromebooks is not a necessity because in 2019, a trial of the use of 1,000 Chromebooks by the Pustekom Kemendikbudristek was carried out and the results were ineffective.

From this experience, the technical team also recommended using specifications with the Windows operating system. However, at that time, the Ministry of Education and Culture replaced the study with a new study that recommended using Chrome system operations.

As for the budget side, Kapuspenkum said that the procurement spent Rp9.982 trillion.

The nearly tens of trillions of funds consist of Rp3.582 trillion in education unit funds (DSP) and around Rp6.399 trillion from special allocation funds (DAK).
