Snapdragon X2 Elite Leaks: Future Laptops Can Have 64GB RAM And 18-Core CPUs!

JAKARTA - If you feel your ARM laptop is currently underpowered, be prepared for major changes! The latest leak reveals that Qualcomm is preparing Snapdragon X2 Elite, a new generation of chipset designed to deliver RAM up to 64GB and up to 18 CPU cores for ARM-based laptops.

This information comes from trusted tech tipster Roland Quandt, who said that the Snapdragon X2 Elite would double RAM support from the previous generation, which only knocked at 32GB. With this new capability, laptop manufacturers can present much more varied configurations ranging from entry-level classes to professional classes.

More interestingly, Qualcomm is reportedly testing this chipset variant with 18 CPU cores, an increase from the 12 cores present in the previous Snapdragon X Elite. In addition to the X2 Elite, Qualcomm is also said to be launching another variant, namely the Snapdragon X2 Plus, as the successor to the X Plus. These two chipsets are expected to be officially introduced on the Snapdragon Summit next September in Hawaii, along with the launch of their newest smartphone chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.

ARM laptop trends have indeed continued to strengthen since Apple introduced Apple Silicon. However, Qualcomm is not left behind, because they have also worked with Microsoft to make custom ARM chips for Surface devices.
