Pornhub, YouPorn, And RedTube Owners Stop Access In France Starting June 4

Jakarta - The company that manages the adult content platform Pornhub, YouPorn, and RedTube announced it will stop access to these sites in France starting Wednesday, June 4.

The move comes as a form of protest against new requirements in France that require pornographic sites to verify the age of users to ensure they are 18 years of age and older.

I can confirm that Aylo has made a difficult decision to stop access to platforms relying on user-uploaded content (Pornhub, YouPorn, RedTube) in France. We will use our platform to deliver a message directly to the French community tomorrow, "a Pornhub spokesperson said.

Aylo is a company that has several adult entertainment brands including the three platforms. In France, Arcom, digital and audiovisual communication regulators, has the authority to request blocking pornographic sites and fines if the age verification system implemented is deemed inadequate.

Clara Chataz, Young French Minister for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technology, wrote on social media X that, "If Aylo chooses to leave France rather than comply with our laws, they are free to do so."

Arcom said that every month around 2.3 million minors access pornographic sites, although legally the access must be blocked.

Apart from France, adult content platforms are also under the spotlight of EU regulators. Last month, a number of sites including Pornhub were being investigated for allegedly disobeying child protection rules.
