Pramono Promises To Reward Benyamin S Award Winner Abroad: London, New York, To The Moon I Allow
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung launched the Benyamin S Award in the form of kelurahan-kelurahan structuring competitions in Jakarta to be cleaner, more comfortable, beautiful, and prosperous.
In this competition, all urban villages in Jakarta are given time to arrange from June until the determination of the winner is announced on October 31.
As a form of appreciation, Pramono promised to award the winner of the Benyamin S Award from 267 urban villages contested to visit abroad.
This prize is expected to foster inspiration for urban villages in Jakarta to further advance their respective areas.
"If later this goes well, I will even give the champion the opportunity to choose to see the largest world city in the world," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, June 3.
"This is to open new insight whether to go to London, to New York, to Tokyo, to Shanghai, to Beijing. To open the light of the insight that what is called the world now is not just a little box. Never mind going anywhere, I will allow you to go to the moon," he added.
Pramono said that his background in holding the Benjamin S Award was the projection of Jakarta's development which was predicted to be a global city, along with the plan to move the capital city to the archipelago.
In addition, Jakarta will also reach the age of 500 years on July 22, 2027. So, according to Pramono, Jakarta needs to improve so that it can compete on a global scale.
"Hopefully Benjamin S. This award will not only exist in the era of our government, it will last forever because this is a measure of the success of a city, especially the city of Jakarta as a global city. Hopefully it will soon advance to class. Currently ranked 74th in our government, 5 years hopefully it can be the top 50 in the world," said Pramono.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno revealed the reasons for the competition for 267 urban villages to be named by Betawi figure Benyamin Sueb.
Rano said this discourse had emerged since the 2024 Pilkada campaign period. As a person who knows Benjamin closely because they both play in the soap opera Si Doel Anak Sekolahan, Rano assesses that the government needs to reward Benjamin through this competition.
"I said (to Pramono), 'Mas, if this is the case, God willing, we may also use his name, so that it is eternal'. Because this is what is called dead elephants leaving ivory, dead humans leave their names," explained Rano.
