Illegal Gold Mining Landslide In Poboya, Central Sulawesi, 2 People Died
The police said that two victims died in the landslide incident in the gold mining area without a permit (peti) in the Kijang 30 area, Poboya area, Mantikulore District, Palu, Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi) on Tuesday, June 3.
"It's true, we received reports of two casualties due to illegal mining activities in the Kijang 30 area. Initially, the victim was hit by rock avalanche material from the hill," said Head of the Palu Police, AKP Dewa Gede Meiriawan in his statement in Palu, Tuesday, June 3,.
He explained that this incident was thought to have occurred due to a landslide from the top of the mountain that hit the victims while they were at the bottom of the mining area.
He said that currently the Palu Police were investigating further the chronology of the landslide incident in the mining area, and the identity of the victim is still under investigation.
However, based on information from residents and the results of the initial interview, he continued, one victim died at the scene.
Meanwhile, another victim died on the way when he was about to be taken to the hospital by residents.
"We are still continuing to explore the identity of the victim, but the process of gathering information in the field is quite constrained because the public has not yet been open to providing information," he said.
He emphasized that currently the police are still continuing to carry out further investigations, and appealed to the public not to carry out activities in areas prone to landslides.
