BPBD Calls Tumpang And West Malang Affected By Mount Semeru Volcanic Ash

The Malang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is still collecting data on the impact of the volcanic ash rain caused by the eruption of Mount Semeru which occurred on Monday, June 2.

"We are still collecting data for people who feel exposed or what the impact of the losses may be," said Malang City BPBD Chief Executive Prayitno in Malang City, Tuesday, June 3, as reported by Antara.

Based on temporary data from the Malang City BPBD originating from several tough village teams in the local area, volcanic ash rain was only found in the western part of Malang City or in the Tlogomas area.

"It happened at around 21.05 WIB, but light ash rain along with the gusts of wind. If Lowokwaru and Madyopuro are safe, in Bandungrejosari it is also safe," he said.

The volcanic ash rain that occurred in the Malang City area was first broadcast through a video uploaded by one of the Instagram accounts @infomalangraya, last night.

In the video, volcanic ash spots can be seen in the body of a black car that is parked.

Separately, the head of the Tumpang Area Jip Association - Poncokusumo Wilda Hangga said that the rain of volcanic ash from Mount Semeru had also hit the Tumpang area, Malang Regency.

He estimated that the incident occurred in about 30 minutes. "This morning it rained light ash in the Tumpang area, it happened at around 07.00-07.30 WIB," he said.

Although Mount Semeru and Mount Bromo are located in the same area, the volcanic ash rain that had occurred did not have an impact on the operation of the tourist whistle on the route to the Bromo area.

All tourism activities are ensured by him to continue to run as conditions in general. "It has no impact (on tourism), the tourist route (to Mount Bromo) is normal and safe," he said.
