Indonesia Open 2025: Putri KW Dinaungi Dewi Fortuna

JAKARTA - Putri Kusuma Wardani was guided by Dewi Fortuna to the second round of the Indonesia Open 2025, forcing her opponent who was ahead to withdraw from the tournament due to injury problems.

The 22-year-old badminton player locked the ticket to the second round of the tournament when he lost 16-21 in the first game and was 15-16 behind in the second game against Malvika Bansod on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

"My first game lost and in the second game I was actually still in a position behind when he was injured. Nobody wanted something like that to happen," said Putri KW after the match.

Although the results did not match their wishes, this victory automatically keeps the women's win-loss record over the India representative to 2-0.

This is their first clash since the 2019 Badminton Asia Junior Championship. At that time, Putri won two straight games in the quarter-finals.

"I haven't seen him for a long time. So, I'm just looking at his match on YouTube. He's anule player, not easy to die," said Putri.

In the women's singles number, Indonesia totally fielded two representatives. The other one is Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi, who will only play on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

Apart from Putri, tickets for the second half have also been secured by Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu and Apriyani Rahayu/Febi Setianingrum.

Meanwhile, the defeat must be felt by Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Alllessya Rose and Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari.
