Participating In The Coffee Exhibition In The United States, BRI's Coffee MSMEs Enter The World Market

JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI continues to show its commitment to encouraging Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to penetrate the world market. This commitment was realized through BRI's support for the participation of two fostered coffee MSMEs in the prestigious Specialty Coffee Expo 2025 event which was held on April 25, 2025 in Houston, Texas, United States.

In this participation, BRI through the BRI New York Representative Office collaborated with the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC through the Trade Attach to facilitate two selected coffee MSMEs, namely Ci Kopi Mang Eko from West Java and Caldera Coffee from North Sumatra. Both of them received support from their respective booths in the Indonesian Pavilion to display superior coffee products to international audiences, as well as open up opportunities for cooperation and market expansion to the United States and other countries.

Specialty Coffee Expo is the largest annual global specialty coffee industry organized by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), and is a major meeting point for thousands of industry players from around the world starting from coffee roasters, importers, retailers, F&B professionals, to coffee lovers. This year, more than 600 exhibition participants from various countries attended, supported by various educational sessions such as 60 thematic lectures and 20 deep workshops discussing the development of technology, product innovation, sustainability, and the latest trends of the coffee industry. This Expo also presents a variety of excellent programs such as the Roaster Village, Basic Exchange, Coffee Design Awards, as well as Best New Product Awards which are the main highlights for global industry players.

During the exhibition, the two BRI-based MSMEs not only displayed their best products, but were also actively involved in tapping sessions, industrial workshops, as well as establishing connections with business actors from various countries. This participation is a concrete step in opening international market access and increasing the competitiveness of Indonesian coffee products which are known for their distinctive quality and taste characteristics.

Active involvement during the exhibition three days has succeeded in producing positive results, in which the two BRI assisted MSMEs recorded potential business agreements (potential deals) with a total value of USD 945,000. This achievement is a strong indicator that Indonesian coffee products have high competitiveness and are in demand by the global market, especially in the United States as one of the largest coffee markets in the world.

The two business actors are alumni of the BRI MSME EXPO (RT) empowerment program and have shown the capacity to develop sustainably. Their involvement in the Specialty Coffee Expo 2025 reflects BRI's success in building an MSME development ecosystem that focuses not only on financing, but also on training, mentoring, as well as facilitating market access to the global arena.

BRI Corporate Secretary Agustya Hendy Bernadi, said that the participation of BRI's MSMEs in this international event was a tangible manifestation of the company's efforts to encourage MSME players in Indonesia to go global.

BRI always encourages MSME players to advance to class and be ready to compete in the international market. Through support in global events such as Specialty Coffee Expo, we want to ensure that Indonesia's superior potential, especially coffee, can be known more widely and become part of the global supply chain," he said.
