Regarding Electricity Tariff Discounts, The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Affirms Not To Be Involved In The Decision Making Process

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) stated that it was not involved in the decision-making process for discounting electricity rates for June-July 2025.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dwi Anggia, said that from the start there had been no official request to provide input in the process.

"The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources was not involved in making decisions on discounting electricity rates in the period June and July 2025," in a statement to the media, Tuesday, June 3.

Nevertheless, Anggi continued, as the technical ministry responsible for the electricity sector, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources stated his readiness to provide official input on the policy formulation process, especially those that have an impact on the welfare of the wider community.

"The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources is always ready if he is asked officially to provide input related to policy making that has an impact on the wider community, including subsidies and electricity compensation," he said.

Anggi said that the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, fully respects the authority of the K/L which announced the policy and cancellation of the electricity tariff discount in June-July 2025.

"And because this policy initiative and cancellation is beyond our authority, is in other Ministries or Institutions, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources really respects the decision. And therefore, if there are questions regarding this matter, we suggest that we be able to ask and communicate directly to the institution that provides the statement ," said Anggi.
