JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Culture Service, Mochamad Miftahullloh Tamary, emphasized that ondel-ondel is prohibited from being used to busking in Jakarta. Because, ondel-ondel is designated as an icon of Betawi culture, as stipulated in DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 11 of 2017.

In the governor's regulation, ondel-ondel functions and is used as a complement to various traditional traditional ceremonies for Betawi people.

In addition, ondel-ondel is placed as a decoration at the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government ceremonial event, festivals, performances of foreign artists, exhibitions, shopping centers, the Tourism Industry, meeting buildings and public areas that allow from the aesthetic and safety aspects. general.

Ondel-ondel can also be done for placement on the right side of the entrance, in the lobby as a complement to photos, on the stage of performance or in visual form on LED/Videotron, or elsewhere according to aesthetics. There is no ondel-ondel permit to sing.

"Disbud's view on the use of ondel-ondel to sing, is very opposed. Using ondel-ondel to busking means eliminating the muruah, philosophy and meaning of ondel-ondel," Miftah told reporters, Tuesday, June 3.

Anyone who uses ondel-ondel as a means of busking, continued Miftah, could not use Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2007 concerning Public Order. They will be disciplined like beggars and other buskers.

In the context of coaching people who use ondel-ondel, the DKI Culture Service provides guidance and appreciation to Betawi cultural activists from the use of ondel-ondel.

"The Culture Service provides an opportunity to appear in public spaces, empowering cultural events and even bringing delegates on cultural missions abroad and also collaborating with ondel-ondel communities, including KOOJA (Ondel-ondel Jakarta Community) and ASOI (Ondel-ondel Indonesia Association)," he explained.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that the ondel-ondel used as busking was not in accordance with the Betawi cultural value.

"I really hope that ondel-ondel is a dynamic, non-static culture. But it must also be appreciated for adequate appreciation. I am one of those who then ordered that, sorry, ondel-ondel not be used to look for busking, lah," said Pramono at the Hotel Borobudur, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, May 28.

Pramono revealed that his staff would socialize the ban ondel-ondel busking on the road.

Instead, the DKI Provincial Government will cooperate with Betawi cultural studios to take advantage of the use of ondel-ondel in Jakarta to appear in various activities.

"That person doesn't sing if it's fulfilled and given the opportunity to be able to appear in other spaces. So, we'll make ondel-ondel later, we'll invite various events in the capital city, a lot of events," explained Pramono.
