Prabowo And Megawati Show Friendship, PDIP: Statementary Attitude

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto and Chairman of the PDIP as well as Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri looked familiar during the Pancasila Birthday ceremony at the Pancasila Building, Central Jakarta, Monday 2 June.

PDIP DPP chairman Said Abdullah said Prabowo and Megawati, who have been friends for a long time, have always shown a statesmanship attitude.

"The relationship between the two has been well established for a long time, both in a political context, especially in strategic matters regarding the ideology of the Pancasila state," said Said.

Previously, President Prabowo had visited to visit Megawati's house in Menteng, Jakarta on Monday, April.

According to Said, this friendship should be appreciated as Prabowo's respect for national leaders, especially former state leaders, such as Megawati.

That way, he considered Prabowo's spirit of respect to be an important asset for the government in the future to build political stability and carry out development.

Said revealed in his speech at the Pancasila Birthday ceremony, President Prabowo mentioned Megawati's name at the earliest before the other figures.

"It is very visible that President Prabowo gave an honorable place to Mrs. Mega, both as the fifth president of the Republic of Indonesia and as chairman of the BPIP Steering Committee. I think this is beyond the pragmatic political affairs relationship," he said.

In addition, he continued, in Prabowo's speech also emphasized the importance of the nation to unite to become a strong nation in facing various national and state challenges that are not easy.

According to him, Megawati certainly welcomed President Prabowo's ideas and thoughts.

On the other hand, Said believes that Megawati and Prabowo's closeness also continues the tradition of previous national leaders.

In the past, it was stated that many national political figures had different political directions and were different in taking policy roads, but could still have good relations, maintain friendship, and even appoint each other to become imams of praying in congregation together.

"We also remember how Buya Hamka became the imam of President Soekarno's funeral prayers, even though their relationship was quite hard on politics," added the chairman of the Budget Board of the House of Representatives (DPR).

For this reason, as figures who are both nationalistic, Prabowo and Megawati are certainly connected internally, especially over the call of history and the needs of Indonesia's future.

"Things like this can only be interpreted and understood by those who are already zuhud in the nation and state so that our perspective is not merely external politics which tends to go up and down and down dynamically," said Said.

Megawati lined up flanked by President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran before the Pancasila Birthday Commemoration Ceremony began.

Previously, there was also a moment of familiarity between Prabowo and Megawati who were caught in the waiting room of the Pancasila Building.

One of them was when the two sat at the oval table of the room. At that time, President Prabowo joked to Megawati, who was sitting face to face him, to lighten the atmosphere.

"Mother is a bit thin, ma'am. Wow, amazing. Mother is thin. Mother's diet was successful," said Prabowo.

Hearing this, Megawati seemed to agree. "Oh yes, that thin diet," he said.
