GrabAds Report: Indonesian Society Uses Several Digital Devices Simultaneously

JAKARTA GrabAds released a report on Southeast Asia (SEA) Consumer Internet, Mobile and Digital Lifestyle Insight. Through this report, GrabAds discusses the habits of technology users in Indonesia.

The results of the study show that Indonesians often use several devices at the same time. For example, when connected to WiFi, cellphones, laptops, and smart TVs are often used simultaneously.

Although these three devices are often used simultaneously, users spend more time playing their cellphones. Interestingly, public interest in digital devices is also not limited to mobile phones.

The results of the GrabAds survey show that people are interested in using other devices. About 38 percent of respondents want to buy laptops, while 26 percent of other respondents are interested in more compact devices such as tablets.

However, interest in mobile phones is still large, even increasing every year. This happens because people who need cell phones are not only students or workers, but also children.

The GrabAds report shows that parents and children aged 10 years and over are actually the top segments in the mobile phone market. This is not surprising because many parents have introduced the use of cell phones to their children.

About 20 percent of respondents think that children aged 13 to 15 are ideal enough to use cell phones. This is influenced by the need for children to learn or just maintain relationships between children and families remotely.

Therefore, GrabAds advises mobile phone providers to highlight educational and safety features for children. With these two features, parents can control their children remotely and children can be helped while studying.

"The need to always be digitally connected to meet needs has become part of their lifestyle, as can be seen from the way they use various digital devices in their daily activities," said Roy Nugroho, Director of Grab for Business Grab Indonesia.
