Why Can OS Update Damage Features To Applications? Here's The Explanation

JAKARTA When reading news about Android operating system (OS) updates, you may often see information about damage to features, systems, and applications. This can indeed happen.

Supposedly, OS updates improve the performance of mobile phones, not damage or decrease the performance of their devices. Therefore, Android update information that damages features or apps can confuse ordinary people or those who do not follow technology.

In fact, there are many factors that make OS updates lower the quality of the system, ranging from bugs tucked in to other factors. Here are some of the causes that make OS updates can damage features to apps on your device.

No Longer Compatible Applications

You may be surprised by the loss of app function after your Android OS is updated. This may happen because the app is no longer compatible with the latest Android version.

For example, when you use Android 14, you can still run one of the games from the Google Play Store. However, after Android 15 is downloaded, the application can no longer run because the application is still using old technology.

Problems with Third Party Applications

Your OS update may not be the main problem, as happened on Pixel phones recently. There were reports that the batteries on Pixel phones were draining faster after their Android versions were updated, not the OS problem.

Google confirmed that this happened because of the Instagram app. It's not clear if the bug is underlying this problem, but the app has hurt some users by draining the battery faster.

Unrenewable Bidgets Or Convex Applications

If you realize the existence of a widget or built-in app that stops working, this may not happen because of a bug, but because of an update that is not included in the latest version of the OS.

For example, at One UI 7.0, Samsung does not include an update on the Digital Wellbeing widget. The software update actually beats the function of the widget so Samsung has to make improvements in the next update.
