Bogor Regent Explains Reasons For Changing Street Names And All Hospitals

Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto explained the reasons for changing the names of several roads and all hospitals in Bogor Regency, West Java, to the names of national figures to national heroes.

He conveyed this reason in a "Podcast Talk Between Megapolitans" at the Bogor Regent's Office House or Hall in Cibinong, Sunday, June 1.

Rudy Susmanto emphasized that the independence enjoyed by the Indonesian people today is not free of charge, but the result of the long struggle of the heroes who sacrifice time, energy, thoughts, and even lives.

"The land that we steppe on and the air we save is not free and is not paid for money. This is the result of the struggle of our nation's predecessors," said Rudy.

Several names of heroes who were immortalized became the names of roads and hospitals, namely, RE Martadinata for roads in the Puncak area, General Sudirman for the Pakansari Stadium section - Simpang Kandang Roda, Soekarno Hatta for the Simpang Kandang Roda - Pancakarsa Monument section.

Then, for the Cibinong Hospital, it is now the Bakti Pajajaran Hospital, Ciawi Hospital is now the KH Idham Chairid Hospital, Leuwiliang Hospital is now RSUD R. Moh.Noh Nur and Cileungsi Hospital is now RH. Satibi Hospital.

According to Rudy, this step is not only a form of respect, but also aims to educate the public about the values of the nation's struggle.

"All government offices in Bogor Regency, such as the office of the regent and the SKPD office, in the future must be able to become educational media for the community," he said.

Rudy also mentioned a number of heroes, such as Subianto Djojohadikusumo who died at the age of 21 in the battle of Lengkong, and the Great Commander General Sudirman who died at the age of 34.

He emphasized that their sacrifice was not just sweat, but blood, tears, and life.

"The figure of the hero here is not just an ornament of the room. Their bodies have indeed mixed with land, but the spirit of struggle remains alive in the community, especially the people of Bogor Regency," he said.

Responding to the possibility of a polemic regarding the naming of public facilities under the name of a hero, Rudy invites all parties to reflect.

"If the naming of the name of a hero becomes a polemic, try taking a large glass and reflecting, are we worthy of standing on the ground that is occupied by the fighters?" he concluded.
