Ford Focus Injected Dead In November, Will There Be A Special Edition For Farewell?
JAKARTA - Automotive manufacturer from the United States (US), Ford is confident that it will stop producing one of its iconic models, Focus in November. This is part of a wider shift by Ford, both globally and in Europe, towards electric vehicles and a crossover/SUV model.
Ahead of the end of this medium hatchback production, it also had an impact on one of its most popular trims, namely ST. Within months of the report, this variant was reported to have been removed from the UK's list of bookings and dealer prices as of May 26.
Reporting from Autocar, Monday, June 2, the report said that now Ford Focus is only available in the type of 1.0-liter EcoBoost 3-cylinder engine with a choice of turbocharged powered by 123 hp and mid-hybrids issuing 153 hp output.
The manufacturer nicknamed "Oval Blue" also limits trim options by only providing Active X Edition, ST-Line, and ST-Line X Edition.
Despite being removed from the order list, Ford still displays the ST variant in the personalization configurator online.
A manufacturer spokesman said it currently does not accept ST variant orders, but has provided many Focus cars for customers and has not been sold at this time in the UK.
"No new factory orders are available for Focus ST at this time, but there are about 170 units that have been created and have not been sold which are currently available on the UK dealer network. This includes 30 special ST Edition variants in Azura Blue color," said a Ford UK spokesman.

Unfortunately, Ford is still not certain whether Focus ST can be re-ordered before entering production layoffs in November. The manufacturer hinted that the situation could change but nothing has been confirmed.
It is possible Ford will present a special edition in order to pay tribute and farewell to this iconic hot hatch in the future and have the potential to attract the attention of automotive lovers.
Currently, Ford Focus comes in the fourth generation to launch in 2018 which was produced at the Saarlouis factory, Germany.
