Illegal CPMI Shelter Raids In Surabaya, 2 Women Arrested As TIP Suspects

JAKARTA - The Surabaya City Police (Polrestabes) have named two women with the initials P alias I and S alias L as suspects in the alleged criminal act of trafficking in persons (TPPO).

The determination of the suspect's status was carried out after a raid on a house on Jalan Kedung Anyar, Sawahan District, Surabaya City, which was suspected of being a shelter for prospective illegal Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) on Saturday, May 31.

"Two people have been detained, the initials P alias I and S, aka L," said Head of the Public Relations Section of the Surabaya Police AKP Rina Shanty Dewi Nainggolan, in Surabaya, Monday, June 2, confiscated by Antara.

In the raid, he continued, the officers initially arrested three suspected perpetrators, however, after an examination, only two were named as suspects.

Another person, he continued, with the initials IZ, was not detained because he was known to only act as a house guard.

"He (the man with the initials IZ) was the guard at the house," he said.

Rina added that the perpetrators allegedly wanted to send the victims to Malaysia, but for detailed information, the police are still investigating the case.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kanit Reskrim) of the Sawahan Police, AKP Agus Tri Subagjo, said that the alleged TIP case was revealed after his party received information from the Command Center regarding the alleged confinement in a house on Jalan Kedung Anyar, Surabaya.

"At the location of Jalan Kedung Anyar II, officers found two women, namely NS and YY, in one of the rooms," said AKP Agus Tri.

One of the victims, continued Agus, had contacted a private radio station, who then forwarded the information to Command Center 112 and the Sawahan Police.

In addition to the two female victims, officers also found two men, S and MF, who were suspected of having been held captive in the house for more than two days.

"We immediately secured the victims and taken them to the police station for questioning," he said.
