Serving Congregants In Makkah, Saudi Arabia Deploys 120 Ambulances

JAKARTA - Saudi Arabia's Red Crescent Authority is increasing preparedness in Makkah by providing more than 120 high-quality ambulance services to pilgrims, as part of preparations for the 1446 H Hajj season.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) news agency on Monday reported that authorities had deployed 120 ambulances operating for a full 24 hours and added more than 100 supporting vehicles in the Makkah area.

Of these, 80 ambulance units were spread across strategic points: 45 units in the northeast and west areas, 15 units in the south, and 20 units in the central city.

The participating units are supported by more than 160 emergency medical personnel, more than 100 ambulances, 12 motorized emergency vehicles, and three golf carts equipped with emergency medical equipment to function as portable ambulances in difficult-to-reach areas.

All of these assets ensure full readiness in dealing with potential disasters and emergency situations.

At the Haram Mosque, more than 30 emergency units have been alerted, including seven teams stationed in the Sai and Saudi Corridor areas, eight teams in the Sai and eastern courtyards, 10 teams in the west and south courtyards, as well as two teams in the third expansion of the Grand Mosque.

These units are equipped with more than 60 paramedics and 16 medical golf cars that ensure a rapid response to emergencies in high-density areas.

All of these efforts are part of a coordinated system that involves various government agencies to improve the safety of medical transportation services and ensure optimal service for pilgrims.

The operation is also supported by more than 550 male and female volunteers from the Red Crescent team, spread over 200 units operating around the clock. These teams have expertise in emergency medical support and provide assistance across high traffic areas.
