JAKARTA KAI Commuter has started operating three new KRL facilities for the Jabodetabek Commuter Line service starting June 1, 2025.
After completing the safety and feasibility certification by the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation, this new KRL facility is used to serve Commuter Line Bogor as many as two train sets and Commuter Line Cikarang as a train set.
The President Director of KAI Commuter, Asdo Artriviyanto, explained that the operation was carried out after the graduation of certification after the dynamical trial process in accordance with Permenhub No. PM 49 of 2023 concerning Standards, Testing Procedures, and Certification of the Feasibility of the Normal Speed Train with Its Own Mobilizer.
"Starting June 1, 2025, KAI Commuter will start operating replacement services using three new train sets for cross-Bogor and Cikarang. The operation of this new KRL facility answers the expectations of the community to optimize the Jabodetabek Commuter Line service," said Asdo in his statement, Sunday, June 1.
This new KRL facility is given the CLI-125 series number, where CLI is an acronym for the Indonesian Commuter Line, number 1 shows KAI Commuter's first generation KRL facility, and number 25 indicates the year of operation.
This KRL carries the latest technology for the Train Control Monitoring System (TCMS), a centralized operating system that improves safety and operational efficiency. On the automatic door system, Anti Trap technology is used to prevent passengers from being pinched.
Each train is about 20 meters long and 3 meters wide, and consists of 12 trains per series or formation of SF12. This KRL has an exterior design with the theme of Growing, which is the red-and-white arch line leading upward which symbolizes the spirit of service growth.

A gray priority seating is placed near the door to facilitate priority user access. This KRL also provides special areas for wheelchair users on train numbers 1 and 12.
"Because it is operated in Jabodetabek, the seating design features ondel-ondel and tanjidor images which are part of Jakarta's culture," explained Asdo.
In the early days of operation, a team from the manufacturer will assist as troubleshooting officers, daily care technicians at the depot, as well as accompanying the driver.
This new KRL replaces the old fleet that will enter the conservation period and allows a series of recompositions, such as an upgrade from SF8 to SF10 or SF12.
KAI Commuter's Public Relations Manager, Leza Arlan, expressed hope that the presence of this new facility will improve passenger safety and comfort. He also appealed to users to maintain facilities and not to carry out vandalism.
