20 Reserve Pilgrims At The Surabaya Embarkation Failed To Depart For Hajj Because Of Visa

SURABAYA A total of 20 prospective reserve hajj pilgrims from the Surabaya Embarkation are confirmed to have failed to leave for the Holy Land this year due to visa constraints.

The government of Saudi Arabia is known to have closed the process of obtaining Hajj visas since May 26, 2025, so their travel documents cannot be issued.

The pilgrims were previously prepared to replace regular pilgrims who canceled their departure due to illness or death. However, due to the absence of visas until the specified time limit, their departure was canceled.

"In the Surabaya Embarkation, there are 20 reserve pilgrims who have canceled their departure to the Holy Land because visas cannot be issued due to closure by the Saudi Arabian government," said Acting Secretary of the Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH) for the Surabaya Embarkation, Sugiyo, Sunday, June 1.

The closure of this visa will not only have an impact on reserve pilgrims. A number of other pilgrims, including special Hajj pilgrims such as the furada hajj, were also reported to have experienced a similar fate.

Meanwhile, the process of departing the pilgrims from the Surabaya Embarkation has been completed. A total of 97 groups with 36,845 pilgrims have been dispatched and are now in the Holy Land to carry out a series of Hajj services in 2025.
