17 People Victims Of Mount Kuda Cirebon Landslide, This Morning Search Continued

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said the total landslide victims were 17 people after joint officers again found three bodies at the excavation mine C Gunung Kuda, Cirebon Regency, West Java, on Saturday, May 31.

"With the addition of three bodies today, the total number of victims who died reached 17 people," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari in Jakarta, Saturday, May 31 evening, confiscated by Antara.

BNPB confirmed that the three victims who were found at around 16.36 WIB were Sakira bin Jumair (40) and Sanadi bin Darya (45), both from Cikeusal Village, Palimanan District, and Sunadi (31) from Girinata Village, Dupantang District.

According to Abdul, the three victims were part of 11 people who were previously reported missing by their families after the landslide that occurred on Friday, May 31.

Based on reports of a temporary rapid assessment, the landslide also caused four units of heavy excavator equipment and seven trucks to be buried by landslide material.

He ensured that search and rescue operations (SAR) were temporarily suspended at 17.45 WIB, and will resume on Sunday, June 1 morning.

The joint SAR officers involved in the operation included personnel from the Cirebon Regency BPBD, TNI, Polri, Basarnas, volunteer groups and local villagers.

BNPB continues to urge the joint SAR team to increase vigilance even though the weather forecast in the Cirebon Regency area will tend to be cloudy in the next two days.

"Residents living near slopes or riverbanks are asked to monitor the condition of the ground and water regularly, and immediately evacuate independently if it rains continuously for more than two hours," said Abdul Muhari.
