Yogyakarta City Government Warns Ormas Must Have Legality
JAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Government reminds all community organizations (ormas) in this region to ensure their legality as the basis for strengthening their role in society.
"Hopefully all mass organizations in Yogyakarta are really recorded, active, and present in the community," said Yogyakarta City Secretariat Assistant for Government and People's Welfare Yunianto Dwisutono in his statement in Yogyakarta, Saturday.
He explained that legality through the issuance of an Organizational Registered Certificate (SKTO) is not just an administrative process, but a first step to establish orderly and legally legal organizational governance.
According to him, local governments continue to encourage existing mass organizations to have a clear status in order to establish healthy communication and partnerships with the government and society.
"All of us, including mass organizations, have a responsibility to keep this city safe, conducive, and dignified," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the National and Political Unity Agency (Kesbangpol) of Yogyakarta City, Nindyo Dewanto, said that the process of verifying and reporting mass organizations in the city of Yogyakarta continues to run gradually as part of institutional development.
"This is a challenge conveyed directly by the Mayor, how can we ensure that all mass organizations in the city of Yogyakarta, including those who are not yet legal entities, have clarity on their status and active communication with the government," said Nindyo.
He said that of the 44 active mass organizations recorded, 31 of them had completed the administrative and verification process to obtain SKTO.
Nindyo appreciated the involvement of mass organizations in fulfilling the requirements, ranging from complete documents to activity reports.

According to him, the existence of legally verified mass organizations will strengthen their position as government partners in reaching and empowering the community.
"Ormas are a very important civil society force. In Yogyakarta, the contribution of mass organizations has been proven to support development programs, and this is in line with our achievements as a city with the highest Human Development Index (HDI) in Indonesia," said Nindyo.
