The Joint Team Focuses On Looking For 8 Victims Buried In The Landslides Of Mount Kuda

The joint team of the TNI, Polri, BPBD, and volunteers will focus on searching for eight victims who are suspected of being buried by landslides in the C mining area of Mount Kuda Cirebon, West Java, on Sunday (1/6) morning.

The commander of Kodim 0620/Cirebon Regency Lt. Col. Inf. Mukhammad Yusron in Cirebon, Saturday, said the search operation on the third day would target several areas suspected of being buried by the victims.

He explained that before the operation was continued, the joint team would conduct an environmental assessment to determine the limits of the work area.

According to him, this is important to do for the smooth running of the victim search process and for the safety of the team deployed at the location.

"The direction of the leadership is clear, in this search the safety of the team must be prioritized. Don't let it happen when we secure the victims, we ourselves are not safe," he said.

The plan, said Yusron, was that the team would break up large stones in the eastern sector using special tools, as long as the move did not cause further landslides.

"If the stone has been broken down, the hope is that it can be pushed down with the pile of land, so that the victim's body can be found," he said.

He conveyed that related agencies in the mining sector were also scheduled to review the location to evaluate mining activities on Mount Kuda which had been going on so far and find out the exact cause of the landslide incident.

Previously, he continued, three victims had been found dead in the eastern sector, and their locations were close to each other.

"The victims found were located close to each other," he said.
