Meeting Tajikistan Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Minister Of Foreign Affairs Procedures Strengthening Economic Cooperation
JAKARTA - The governments of Indonesia and Tajikistan agreed to strengthen bilateral relations, as well as encourage cooperation between two countries in the economic sector and the people-to-people contact.
This was emphasized in the meeting of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir with the First Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Hokim Kholiqzoda at the Tajikistan Presidential Administration Office Complex in Dushanbe.
"The governments of Indonesia and Tajikistan agree that the 31-year momentum of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Tajikistan needs to be used to strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially concrete cooperation in various fields," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement, Saturday, May 31.
"Both parties also agreed to encourage each other high-ranking officials and explore the formation of a bilateral consultation mechanism," the ministry continued.
The meeting also specifically discussed the potential for increased cooperation in the trade, investment, industry and energy sectors. On this occasion, Deputy PM Kholiqzoda conveyed Tajikistan's desire to invest in Indonesia, especially in the downstream industry sector.
Tajikistan itself is a country rich in natural resources, including bauxite, and cotton as the main export commodity. In addition, there are also opportunities for cooperation in the hydro-energy and processing of palm oil.
In order to increase inter-business interactions, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tata conveyed an invitation to Tajikistan to participate in Halal Indo Expo on September 25-28, 2025 and Trade Expo Indonesia on October 15-19, 2025.
First Deputy Prime Minister Tajikistan welcomed the invitation and will encourage high-level participation. Tajikistan also hopes that the National Government can increase the number of scholarships for Tajikistan students and students to be able to pursue education in Indonesia.

On a separate occasion, Deputy Foreign Minister Tata also held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin, as well as the Head of the State Investment and Asset Management Agency Sulton Rahimzoda. The meeting discussed in detail various concrete cooperation that the two countries will explore, including in the political, social-culture fields, as well as strengthening trade and investment in both countries.
It is known that the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tata was in Dushanbe, Tajikistan in order to lead the Indonesian Delegation at the High-Level International Conference on Glaciers' 2025 Preservation which was held on 29-31 May 2025.
