The Minister Of The Republic Of Indonesia-Malaysia Agrees To Strengthen News Agency Cooperation
JAKARTA - Malaysian Communication Minister Fahmi Fadzil and Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Viada Hafid agreed to strengthen strategic cooperation between the ANTARA (Indonesia) news agency with BERNAMA (Malaysia).
Minister Fadzil, via uploads on his official social media platform on Saturday, said that the agreement was reached when the two met in Tokyo, Japan.
"One of the main points agreed is efforts to strengthen strategic cooperation between BERNAMA (Malaysia) and ANTARA (Indonesia), including the exchange of news material, cross-border coverage, as well as sharing resources and professional training," he said.
Strengthening the cooperation of news agencies, he considered it important to ensure that the two institutions remain relevant, credible, and able to convey accurate and balanced information to the public in their respective countries.

Fadzil explained that the meeting discussed various important aspects of bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of communication, media, and digital infrastructure in line with the current information landscape which is increasingly complex and dependent on each other at the regional level.
"The atmosphere of the conversation took place very positively and warmly, reflecting the strong spirit of cooperation between the two countries," he said.
In addition, the two ministers also emphasized the important role of the Malaysian-Indonesian Journalists Association (ISWAMI) in strengthening media relations between the two countries.
The Malaysian state official emphasized that ISWAMI is not only a bridge in strengthening a network of professional journalists, but also acts as a catalyst for understanding and mutual understanding among the public through a more inclusive and visionary narrative.
"With the spirit of neighboring and strong shared values, we believe Malaysia and Indonesia can continue to expand cooperation in the field of communication for the benefit and good of the people of the two countries," said Fadzil.
