Unscrupulous Journalists Of The DKI Prosecutor's Office Have Been Named As Suspects

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has named an unscrupulous journalist with the initials LS who blackmailed the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) as a suspect.

"Sudah melaksanakan gelar perkara peningkatan status penyelidikan menjadi penyidikan dan menetapkan saudara LS sebagai tersangka," kata Kabid Humas Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Ade Ary Syam Indradi dalam keterangannya di Jakarta, Minggu.

Ade Ary explained that the perpetrators blackmailed by sending several screenshots of online news criticizing the performance of the High Prosecutor's Office, on May 27, 2025, to the victim.

"Followed by the invitation of the reported party to meet by adding the words 'people who are for coffee, just private brother, if you leave it, bro'. The victim immediately responded by saying he couldn't meet because he was busy," explained Ade Ary.

Ade Ary also mentioned that from the hands of LS, a number of evidences were confiscated, such as one cell phone, one bag, a bundle of assignment letters from the media with the initials HR, and Rp5 million in cash with a denomination of Rp100 thousand.

He also mentioned that LS was suspected of committing a criminal act of extortion through electronic media and/or extortion with the threat of disclosing the secrets as referred to in Article 45 paragraph (10) Jo. article 27 B paragraph (2) of Law Number 11 of 2008 as amended lastly by Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the second amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions and/or criminal acts of extortion as referred to in Article 369 of the Criminal Code.

The DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) previously explained that the man with the initials LSN who was arrested for extorting a prosecutor on Wednesday (28/5) claimed to be a journalist.

"Yes, he (the suspect) admits to being a journalist, sometimes he also claims to be an NGO," said Head of the Legal Information Section (Kasi Penkum) of the DKI Jakarta Attorney General's Office, Syahron Hasibuan in a statement received in Jakarta, Thursday (29/5).

Syahron explained that the DKI Jakarta Attorney General's Intelligence Team arrested a perpetrator with the initials LSN who claimed to be a journalist and allegedly blackmailed a prosecutor in the front yard of the DKI Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday (28/5).

LSN extorted by participating in the trial and then making accusations and intimidation through WhatsApp (WA) messages.

"Then make news in the mass media and protest that the TH prosecutor who heard the case conspired with the Customs and Excise official by not determining a suspect to someone with the initials AJ," he said.

Currently, the perpetrators and evidence have been handed over by the Polda Metro Jaya to be followed up in accordance with applicable law.
