11 Victims Of Landslide Mine Mount Kuda Have Not Been Found
JAKARTA - The West Java Regional Police (West Java Police) said as many as 11 victims buried by the C excavation mine landslide in the Cirebon Horse Mountain area, West Java, as of Saturday (31/5) this afternoon have not been found.
West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan said the number of victims came from reports of residents who had lost their family members, after the landslide on Friday (30/5).
According to him, the process of matching the data and characteristics of the victims continues to accelerate the search.
"From the latest information, there are 11 victims who have not been found. This departs from a public report stating that their family members have not returned," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 31.
Currently, joint personnel from the National Police, TNI, Basarnas, BPBD, and volunteers are deployed for sweeping operations in the affected areas.
The Kapolda said that a total of 400 joint personnel were deployed, then divided into two teams to reach several vulnerable points on Mount Kuda.
"Since yesterday the team has been working to evacuate and rescue the victims. Today the operation continues with the division of two teams," he said.
The steep geographical condition and unstable soil are a challenge in their search.
However, the search process is still carried out with the help of heavy equipment deployed.
Rudi ensured that all joint elements worked in a coordinated manner in an effort to find victims who were suspected of being buried.
