Menkop Budi Arie Says 71,262 Cooperatives In Red And White Villages Have Been Formed
The Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) noted that 71,262 Cooperatives of Red and White Villages had been formed through a special village meeting (Mus rumor) until May 30, 2025. The total number of villages in Indonesia reached 83,944.
Minister of Cooperatives (Menkop) Budi Arie Setiadi stated that around 200 people in the village attended each of these forums. "They see cooperatives as a concrete solution in encouraging the local economy and creating social justice," said Budi Arie as quoted from a written statement, Saturday, May 31.
Budi Arie said the deliberation was an important momentum in the formation of cooperatives. The reason is, the main management structure of cooperatives will be determined in the forum.
The elements of the village community involved in the deliberation consisted of youths, women, village/kelurahan leaders, traditional leaders, religious leaders to other organizational apparatus.
He encouraged the public to be actively involved in determining the management of the cooperative in order to carry out the mandate. "All of this must be carried out according to the technical guidelines set out in the implementation instructions so that in the future the failure rate of this cooperative can be suppressed," he said.
In addition, Budi Arie also requested that the formation of cooperatives not be carried out carelessly. All drafts and cooperative business concepts formulated need to pay attention to the potential of local businesses and aspects of economic feasibility.
"We will prepare mockups and modeling for cooperative operation carefully, carefully, in accordance with the business potential owned by villages and sub-districts," said Budi Arie.
Budi Arie hopes that the Red and White Village Cooperative can become an aggregator and accelerator for village economic development.
"The government hopes that the existence of this cooperative will strengthen the national economic structure of grassroots," he concluded.
