Israel Strikes Syrian Coast, Targets Missile Arms Warehouse
JAKARTA - The Israeli attack targeted the coastal cities of Syria, Latakia and Tartous. The attack killed one person.
Reported by Reuters on Saturday, May 31, the Israeli military confirmed the attack was aimed at weapons storage assets containing missile-assisted threats to the freedom of international maritime navigation and Israel in Latakia.
A civilian was killed in an attack in Latakia, the Syrian state news agency reported.
Israel has years launched military operations of air bombings that destroyed most of the country's military infrastructure and this has increased since Israel's war in Gaza.
But the attack has largely stopped in recent weeks as both sides engage in direct talks aimed at avoiding conflict.
