Sumenep Police Investigate The Discovery Of 35 Kilograms Of Methamphetamine In Masalembo Waters

JAKARTA - The Sumenep Police Narcotics Team conducted further investigations into the findings of 35 kilograms of drugs in the waters of the Masalembo Islands.

Head of Public Relations of the Sumenep Police, AKP Widiarti, said fishermen in the Masalembo Islands, Sumenep Regency, East Java found as many as 35 kilograms of methamphetamine drugs floating in the sea and currently the goods have been handed over to Makodim 0827 Sumenep.

"Currently, the Sumenep Police Narcotics Team is conducting further investigations into the drug findings," Widarti said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 31.

Previously, Dandim Lieutenant Colonel Inf Yoyok Wahyudi explained that the findings of 35 kilograms of drugs were on May 28, 2025, in the waters of the Masalembo sea about 4 miles from the beach.

The discovery of this drug began when four fishermen from Ambulung Hamlet, Suka Jeruk Village, Ambulu District, Masalembo Island were Sirat (60), Naim (30), Fadil (25) and Mastur (40) saw drums floating not far from where they caught fish.

The four fishermen then brought the drum to the mainland, and reported it to the local Koramil and Polsek.

The Koramil then reported to the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) through Kodim 0827 Sumenep.

The discovery of 35 kilograms of methamphetamine is the largest in East Java.

The East Java BNNP is also trying to track the drug trafficking network by examining the types and codes in each of the drug packages.
