Regional Tax Regulation Revision, Semarang City Government Adjusts To National Policy
JAKARTA - The Semarang City Government is reviewing Regional Regulations (Perda) on Regional Taxes and Retribution as a form of adjustment to changes to national fiscal policy.
Deputy Mayor of Semarang, Iswar Aminuddin, revealed that the revision process has entered the first level of discussion of Regional Regulation Number 10 of 2023. This change is in response to the mandate of Law Number 1 of 2022 concerning Financial Relations between the Central and Regional Governments.
"This adjustment is important so that our regulations remain relevant and in line with the dynamics of developing fiscal policy," said Iswar, as quoted by ANTARA, May 30.
He emphasized that local regulations related to taxes and levies not only regulate the collection mechanism, but also become the main foundation of regional revenue (PAD) as well as a form of community contribution in supporting public service financing.
"Tax and regional retribution are vital instruments to strengthen development financing and services to the community," he continued.

During the discussion process, said Iswar, various inputs from the DPRD factions had been recorded, including proposals for improving the supervisory system, simplifying services, and preventing extortion practices.
"The City Government is committed to following up on every recommendation given by the DPRD so that this revision really touches the aspect of service and accountability," he said.
Furthermore, the Semarang City Government is also accelerating digital transformation in regional tax services to create a more efficient and transparent system.
"This digitization includes the development of supporting infrastructure and increasing the competence of the human resources involved," said Iswar.
With this revision, the City Government hopes that tax management in Semarang City will become more modern, participatory, and in accordance with the more integrated national policy direction.
