14 Victims Killed By Longsor Mine Of Mount Kuda Successfully Evacuated
A total of 14 people were reported to have died due to landslides that occurred in the Gunung Kuda mining area, Cipanas Village, Dupantang District, Cirebon Regency, West Java. All victims were found and evacuated by a joint team on Friday, May 30.
Cirebon Police Chief, Kombes Pol Sumarni, stated that all the bodies had been identified and handed over to the family.
We have evacuated and identified a total of 14 victims. Thirteen victims were taken to Arjawinangun Hospital, while one other victim was treated at Sumber Hurip Hospital in Cirebon," said Sumarni, as quoted by ANTARA.
The search and evacuation process had taken place until late in the evening, at 17.50 WIB to be exact. A joint team from the police, BPBD, and related agencies worked intensively to ensure that no casualties were left behind.
Furthermore, the police have also examined five people related to mining activities at the scene, including mine owners, technical chiefs, and a number of field workers. Police are still hunting for heavy equipment operators who are currently not found.
"We are currently investigating the possibility of elements of negligence or technical violations that caused this incident. The investigation is still ongoing," he explained.

The Gunung Kuda Galian C mine had previously experienced a similar incident in February 2025, and the police said this incident would be a focus in the follow-up legal process.

Investigation efforts continue to be carried out to reveal the exact cause of the landslide and mitigation measures so that similar incidents do not occur again.
