Disaster Preparedness Mitigation, East Jakarta BPBD Deploys 50 Personnel During Long Holidays
JAKARTA - As a mitigation and preparedness measure for potential disasters during the long holiday period, the East Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has alerted 50 personnel.
These efforts were made to anticipate emergency events such as inundation, fires, and other natural disasters that may occur over the weekend and collective leave.
"We have placed 50 officers in various strategic areas to ensure a quick response in case of an emergency situation," said Head of the East Jakarta BPBD, Gatot Sunariyo, as quoted by ANTARA.
According to Gatot, the team on alert consists of field personnel and postal officers who will work alternately. They are also equipped with emergency response equipment, such as rubber boats, portable water pumps, communication equipment, and evacuation equipment.

He added, in addition to the readiness of personnel, his party has also coordinated with relevant agencies such as the Fire Department, Satpol PP, and the Health Service to work together in handling disasters in the event of a disaster.
"We also emphasize the importance of residents' preparedness. If there are signs of extreme weather or other potential dangers, the public is asked to immediately report to our 24-hour active post," he said.
The East Jakarta BPBD also continues to monitor weather developments from the BMKG and reports from the public through the official complaint channel. This is a form of early detection effort so that potential disasters can be prevented or handled from the start.
This step was taken following the increasing trend of community activities in public spaces during long holidays that could trigger potential vulnerabilities, both in terms of safety and weather.
