Minister Of Agriculture Claims Rice Stock 4 Million Tons Highest Achievement Since 1969
JAKARTA The first time since Perum Bulog was founded in 1969, the government's rice reserves (CBP) reached 4 million tons.
Of this amount, 2,407,257 tons were the result of local rice absorption by the Logistics Affairs Agency (Bulog).
Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to all parties who have contributed to this achievement.
"I express my deepest gratitude to all Indonesian farmers, Commission IV DPR RI, TNI, Polri, Kejaksaan, governors, regents, Head of Agriculture, PIHC, Perum Bulog, observers, academics, milling business actors, field agricultural instructors, and media. All parties have worked hand in hand to Indonesia to reach the largest rice reserves in history," he said in his statement, Friday, May 30.
According to him, this achievement is not just a statistical figure, but a strong symbol of increasing the welfare of farmers and the independence of the nation.
"In the past, during the main harvest, the price of unhulled rice often fell and farmers lost money. Now, the majority of farmers can sell GKP at least Rp. 6,500 per kilogram according to HPP, even more. This is the fruit of policies that favor farmers," said Amran.
According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), national rice production in January 'May 2025 is estimated to reach 16.55 million tons or an increase of 11.95 percent from the previous year.
Amran said this achievement was in line with the performance of Bulog's absorption which recorded the highest record in the last 57 years.
By the end of May 2025, Bulog had absorbed more than 2.4 million tons of local rice, a jump of more than 400 percent compared to the average absorption in the same period in the last 5 years which was only in the range of 1.2 million tons.
"This shows that domestic production is not only increasing, but is also massively absorbed directly from farmers. This step is effective in strengthening national reserves and maintaining price stability at the farmer level," he said.

He also gave special appreciation for the aggressive pick-up strategy carried out by Bulog in absorbing farmers' grain directly.
With strong cross-sector collaboration and targeted strategic policies, the government is optimistic that Indonesia's food security is no longer a dream, but a reality that continues to be built and maintained.
