Minister Of Manpower Issues Circular On Prohibition Of Discrimination During Recruitment Process, Especially Age Requirements
JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) issued Circular Letter (SE) Number M / 6 / HK.04 / V / 2025 regarding the prohibition of discrimination in the labor recruitment process.
This SE emphasizes age requirements. However, Minister of Manpower Yassierli said that age restrictions are not automatically categorized as a form of discrimination.
"Restrictions on age are still possible as long as it is necessary because of certain characteristics or properties of work that are actually related to age or do not cause loss or decrease the opportunity to get jobs for the community in general," he said, quoted from his official statement, Thursday, May 29, 2025.
This policy also applies to workers with disabilities, where the recruitment process must be carried out without discrimination and based on competence and suitability with work.

Yassierli reminded employers to convey information on job vacancies correctly, honestly, and transparently through official channels.
This must be done to avoid fraudulent practices or brokers that harm job seekers.
This SE will be distributed to local governments and relevant stakeholders to encourage the business world to develop recruitment policies that uphold the principles of equality and non-discrimination.
Meanwhile, in terms of the business and industrial world, it is hoped that it will continue to improve recruitment practices so that they become more transparent, fair, and competency-based.
"Through this step, we want to ensure that the world of work in Indonesia becomes a place that is inclusive, competitive, and respects the dignity of every individual," he said.
