Gowa Police Deactivate Traffic Police Who Receive Money From Motorists
JAKARTA - Head of the Gowa Police Traffic Unit, Iptu Bahrul S, temporarily disabled members. Then the initials Bripka A EF after the video went viral on social media, allegedly receiving money from motorists who wanted to be ticketed and violating the standard rules for police procedures (SOP).
"We have taken action. I have submitted it to the Propam (Profession and Security) Division for examination and applicable legal proceedings," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 29.
According to him, the viral video that was spread on social media was allegedly given money without being ticketed to its members because the violators were afraid of being ticketed. However, he said, this problem is still in the process of being investigated by the Gowa Police Propam investigators.
"The viral video that was spread on social media was seen where my members took action not according to the SOP. So we have processed it," said the Head of Gowa Traffic Unit.
Responding to this, the Head of the Propam Section of the Gowa Police, AKP Wahab, stated that the person concerned is still being processed and has been temporarily disabled from his position as a member of the Gowa Police Partoli Traffic Unit.
"The matter has been secured and we have examined it. In accordance with the violations committed, we have also disabled Bripka A EF from his position. We are not on duty (temporary) while waiting for the decision of the trial we are making," he said.
The deactivation is referred to as a form of assertiveness and disciplinary enforcement for police personnel who violate police rules and ethics.
"This is done as a form of evaluation and learning for Polri personnel so that it does not happen again for the second time. This appeal applies to all personnel in the ranks of the Gowa Police," he emphasized.
For this incident, the Gowa Police are committed to enforcing internal regulations and ensuring strict action against all personnel who violate the SOP. This is done to maintain public trust in the image of the police institution.

Meanwhile, Bripka A EF provided clarification regarding the incident. At that time, two female drivers riding stopped on the edge of Jalan Poros Limbung, Bajeng District. They stopped by the side of the road because they saw a raid in front.
Furthermore, Bripka A EF came to him and asked him why he stopped. Both then admitted that they did not have vehicle documents, including the license plate of their motorbike.
"I asked both of them saying they did not have vehicle documents including SIM and STNK, the motorbike they were driving also did not use a number plate. At that time there was a raid in front. Then they were brought forward to be ticketed," he said.
However, when they were at the ticketing site, the two of them argued that they were in a hurry because they wanted to attend the party and reasoned that they had forgotten. This driver had asked for help not to be ticketed, even when asked his name to be written on the ticket paper, instead mentioning the name 'Singketa Joke'
"I didn't write it down, because it didn't make sense, but they kept pushing to be helped. I didn't know it was videoed when I received the money. They deposited Rp150 thousand to avoid a ticket. I'm sorry, I apologize to the community and the Polri institution. I am ready to accept sanctions from the leadership," he said.
