PSG Vs. Inter Milan: This Is What Lautaro Martinez Watched Out For

JAKARTA - Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is specifically wary of the midfield and back of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final match at the Allianz Arena Stadium, Munich, Sunday, May 1, 2025 in the morning WIB.

The final match which was for the first time since 21 years ago without involving English Premier League clubs, La Liga Spanyol or the German Bundesliga. At that time or the 2002 Champions League final brought together Portuguese clubs Porto and Monaco from Ligue 1 France.

Again, Ligue 1 club failed to gap the broad-eared trophy. The Porto, which was handled by Jose Mourinho and eliminated the elite Manchester United team, emerged as champions.

Now, PSG has ambitions to become the second team after Marsellie lifted the trophy. Marseille won in 1993 after beating AC Milan 1-0.

Previously, PSG had also advanced to the final in 2020. However, the still strengthened Les Parisiens Neymar had to admit Bayern Munich's 2-0 advantage.

PSG tried their luck for the second time against Inter. Not only aiming for the first Champions League trophy but PSG also hopes to win trebles. Currently only Inter, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Manchester City are able to do it.

PSG coach Luis Enrique who brought Barca to treble. Enrique hopes to do so with PSG who have won Ligue 1 and the French Cup.

Only PSG will face resistance from Inter who advanced to the final for the second time in the last three years. In the 2023 final, Simone Inzaghi's team must recognize Man City's 1-0 advantage.

Inter didn't want to repeat the second failure. Martinez also admitted PSG was not a light opponent. "They are a strong and compact team, both in attack and defense. We have to be aware of them," Martinez said.

Martinez was wary of the players who became the pillar of PSG's strength. Especially those who had played in Italy. Although he did not mention certain players, midfielder Khivcha Kvaratskhelia was in Martinez's spotlight.

"Their players, especially those playing in the middle, will be key. We already know them. Some of them have played in Italy," Martinez was quoted as saying by UEFA.

Kvaratskhelia was Napoli's mainstay pillar before moving to PSG. The Georgian star also brought Napoli to the 2023 Scudetto. Apart from Kvaratskhelia there is Fabian Ruiz who previously defended Napoli.

In the back sector there is Achraf Hakimi who has played with Martinez at Inter for a season. He was brought in from Borussia Dortmund and released the following season at PSG.

And most notably goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has long been the mainstay of one city rival, AC Milan. Donnarumma is also the number one goalkeeper for the Italian national team.

"We have to know more about their strengths and weaknesses. If we were able to take advantage of them, this would be our big game," Martinez said.

"But the important thing is that we have to be able to enjoy the game because this is a difficult competition. We have reached the final twice over the last three years. Of course we deserve to achieve it," said the Argentine national team striker.
