Defeat Real Betis 4-1, Chelsea Win The European Conference League
JAKARTA - Chelsea won the European Conference League after they slaughtered Real Betis 4-1 in the final match at the Minicipal de Breslavia Stadium, Poland, Thursday morning WIB as reported by Antara.
Abde Ezzalzouli had time to bring Betis ahead quickly in the ninth minute. However, their negligence in the second half made the Spanish team bite their fingers because Chelsea returned goals through four different players namely Enzo Fernandes (65'), Nicolas Jackson (70'), Jadon Sancho (83'), and Moises Caicedo (90+1').
The first half match became Betis's after they appeared very effective despite being a little in possession of the ball. Abde immediately gave Betis the lead in the ninth minute after using Isco's pass, shortly after Malo Gusto's pass error.
In the 13th minute, Marc Bartra came forward and had a dangerous chance with his right foot shot, but Filip Jorgensen still saved well.
Seven minutes later, Johnny Cardoso almost added to Betis' lead. However, his right foot kick that took advantage of Abde's pass is still wide. The first half ended for Betis' 1-0 lead.
Entering the second half, the Blues made three changes by including Reece James, Jadon Sancho, and Levi Colwill, to replace Gusto, Pedro Neto, and Benoit Badiashile.
Enzo Maresca's changes bore fruit after his team appeared more pressing and more dangerous than the first half. Seven chances, with four great chances they created, where everything ended in goals.
Enzo Fernandez managed to welcome Cole Palmer's pass to equalize to 1-1. Five minutes later, Palmer was again an inspiration to his partner, after his pass met Nicolas Jackson's head and broke into Betis' goal for the second time.
In the last 10 minutes of the second half, the Blues added two goals through Sancho in the 83rd minute and Moises Caicedo in the 90+1 minute to close their win to 4-1.
Chelsea became the fourth team to win the European Conference League after AS Roma, West Ham United, and Olympiacos. This victory also made the Blues set a unique record, namely becoming the first European club to wipe out the inter-club trophy from UEFA: Champions League, Europa League, European Super Cup, and European Conference League.
